Etching Archives
My entry into weaving came through the Printmaking Department at the University of Iowa. I spent hours collecting fabrics, etching them, then layering them to create a record of time and texture.
That process led me to want to weave the textures I had etched… so began my life-long journey into weaving.
Fabric Overlay, 1980
Fabric Overlay represents the time and repetition of the same action, and the irregularity of its outcome. Not perfect, but irregular and organic.
Entangled Mesh, 1980
Entangled Mesh reflects the clutter of dense thoughts entangled with the activity of multiple thoughts that get processed over and over each day. The shadow overlay of dark thoughts and the whimsical abstraction of activated fragmented thoughts swirling around in the mind.
