Mylar Balloons
Since 2012, I’ve collected thousands of mylar balloons roaming the beach of Fire Island. All family milestones, unknown celebrations, birthdays, graduations, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day. All became the medium of transformation over these many years.
Process: Color grade the balloons. Cut the balloons as if coring an apple all in one strand. For heavier texture, I cut these strips in half-inch strands. For tighter structures, I cut in ¼-inch strands.
