I began collecting dry cleaning hangers and the unwanted plastic bags that accumulated in my closet before returning to the dry cleaner. One day I asked the cleaners what they did with the hangers, and if they reused them. They said they could not, but would be happy to dispose of them. That’s when I realized this could all be woven.
Process: Separate paper or cardboard from hangers. Cut the hangers. Cut plastic in strips. Work up supply. Prepare warp the size of hangers’ width, and/or end use, and begin weaving.
