Going “Bag to the Future” with the Cooper Hewitt Museum!
To get ready for New York’s plastic bag ban, effective March 1, Tick Studio lead museum-goers at the Cooper Hewitt Museum in making lap loom weavings using recycled materials including plastic bags, mylar balloons, and other single use plastics. Raising awareness on the larger topic of climate change, participants also learned how to calculate their own carbon footprint. There were three workshops at 9am, 11am and 1pm.
Participants brought their own plastic bags to weave into their design. Thank you to everyone who contributed to a fantastic event!
Introducing the Second Sight Collection
Today we’re introducing the Second Sight collection designed by Suzanne Tick for Luum Textiles!
As we enter a new decade, opportunities and ideas emerge, encouraging new ways of seeing. Second Sight by Suzanne Tick is a collection of four upholstery textiles with a vision – exuding optimism, reflection and a focus on responsible materials like wool, silicone and recycled polyester.
With clarity of intent, Second Sight celebrates the possibilities of design processes that advance environmental thought, sparking a return to purity of raw materials. Spirited use of color is seen throughout, offering vivid and nuanced colorways that when integrated into the materials, refresh our perspectives with playful simplicity. The dynamism of exaggerated, angular architecture facades and sculptural furniture inspires and elevates graphic pattern, allowing the interior environment to reflect the exterior.
Through this interplay of sustainable materials, joyful color and architectural motifs, new possibilities are created, crystallizing the user experience with a revived energy and outlook for the future. Check out the full collection HERE

ARTIST VISIT AND WEAVING WORKSHOP WITH COLLEGIATE SCHOOL FOR BOYS
Collegiate School for Boys in New York City invited Suzanne to be the resident teaching artist this month. She hosted two lap loom weaving classes with third graders showing them how to use clothing, plastic and other recyclables to making their own weaving. Today, on her last day, she talked about her experience as an artist working with found and recycled materials to Lower School Assembly. Thank you, Collegiate!
Introducing Braided and Meshwork
Today we’re introducing Braided modular and Meshwork LVT for Tarkett Contract!
As the need for warm, calming environments and elegant spaces is on the rise, Meshwork warms a space with simplified, geometric lines that feel sophisticated and inviting. This graphically inspired design features a layering of vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines— a translation of the way modern architecture connects people and interiors in all directions, weaving several webs that somehow find a way to each other. Meshwork’s simplified palette coordinates beautifully with Braided carpet tiles, pulling together a cohesive design with floorcoverings that seem to speak to one another. Click HERE to explore.
